~Nois Presents: Wired

GET TICKETS HERE

It’s 3am. You’re hovering over your laptop, slightly ~Wired from that coffee you shouldn’t have had ear- lier that night.

You’ve found a weird place on the internet and don’t remember how you got there. It’s a library of sorts... full of sounds, some beautifully haunting, some maniacally disjunct. There’s reverb, distortion, delay, drum machines, microfluctuating organs, and electric violins. You’ll probably wake up the next day wondering, “What just happened? Was it just a dream?”. Who knows. We certainly don’t.

Join ~Nois for a late night dive through the depths of electroacoustic music.

Premiere of Sun Thrower by Darian Donovan Thomas.

Music by: Hunter Brown, AJ Santillan, Sam Scranton, Daniel Wohl

The MSU Federal Credit Union Entrepreneurial Musical Artist in Residence program (EMAR) was created in 2019 thanks to the generosity of the Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU). This signature program focuses on entrepreneurship in the musical arts and brings to MSU College of Music students an opportunity to learn from and network with successful and progressive artists during multiple-day residencies. Thanks to the support of MSUFCU, the College of Music Running Start program creates immersive experiences where students can learn from artists and thought leaders whose innovative careers are redefining relationships between musicians, communities, the music industry, and audiences.

Nevermore Chamber Music Festival: Kinds of ~Nois

The Kinds of Kings / ~Nois collaboration grew from a friendship between Gemma Peacocke and ~Nois that formed at the Eighth Blackbird Creative Lab in 2018. After a year of planning, the premiere of the first iteration of the Kinds of Kings and ~Nois program took place at Roulette Intermedium in Brooklyn, New York, with performances following in Chicago and Los Angeles during the Winter of 2020. As the musical world went on hiatus during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the collaboration between ~Nois and Kinds of Kings did not. Instead it has continued to morph into the final product that we have today: Kinds of ~Nois.

Nick Zoulek and ~Nois feat. Chris Porterfield & Cassie Wieland @ SPACE

Brooklyn-based composer/vocalist Cassie Wieland joins Chicago’s own ~Nois for “Birthday Party”, a collection of songs that serve as a doleful celebration of growing up. Praised by The New York Times as “sweetly shimmering,” Wieland masterfully experiments with timbre and texture by exploring intimate and fragile sounds to achieve the “hand-made” sound she is often looking for: imperfect, but intentional.
