William Bolcom's Concerto Grosso With The Northshore Concert Band

~Nois will be a featured soloist on the Northshore Concert Band's 2018/2019 Series Opening Concert. The quartet will perform Concerto Grosso for saxophone quartet and wind band by Pulitzer Prize winner, William Bolcom. Conducted by Dr. Mallory Thompson, the Northshore Concert Band is a 100-member symphonic band that performs throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. ~Nois and Nick Zoulek will perform at Howard’s Club H in Bowling Green, OH. Zoulek and ~Nois met at the 2018 Blackbird Creative Lab and immediately struck up a fantastic friendship and musical connection. Zoulek is a modern saxophonist of “pure mindfulness and talent” (PopMatters), Nick Zoulek's focus on performance, collaboration, multimedia, and improvisation,  has led to a diverse portfolio of distinctive artistic ventures, performing across France, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States. Frequency Series Presents: ~Nois and F-PLUS

~Nois returns to the Frequency Series at Constellation to present a program of new works written for the quartet. This concert will feature the Chicago premiere of Gemma Peacocke's Dwalm, as well as a world premiere by Chicago-based composer Darcy Copeland. ~Nois will also perform Hans Thomalla’s Albumblatt II along with Pauline Oliveros' Thirteen Changes, a completely improvised work that has become a staple of ~Nois live shows. Impromptu Festival: ~Nois

~Nois opens the Impromptu Fest, a festival organized by New Music Chicago and curated by Amy Wurtz, at 7:30pm on February 15th at the Chopin Theatre. ~Nois will present an exciting and diverse program of works for saxophone quartet including the second performance of Phil Taylor's Foursquare: Three Antique Games. Also featured on the program will be a performance of the late Pauline Oliveros' evocative Thirteen Changes, a text score realized by the quartet through improvisation. The quartet will also perform the music of Martin Bresnick, David Ludwig, Fuminori Tanada, and Chicago's own David Reminick. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students with a valid student ID.
